Dr. Michael johnston
Michael in currently the Physical Preparation Lead at British Athletics, and has been working full time in the British high performance system since 2003. During this time he has provided strength and conditioning and sport science support to world and Olympic medallists from over 27 different sports, and has consulted to professional and international teams in the areas of strength and power assessment and development.
He holds a PhD in sport science from Swansea University where he examined the neuromuscular, hormonal and physiological response to speed and strength training and has published several peer reviewed journal articles. His background in both the applied and academic sectors of strength and conditioning ensure that the support he provides is built on a combination of “evidence based practice” and “practice based evidence”.
DR. ROB MILLER
Rob is currently the National Performance Institute Strength & Conditioning coach for British Athletics, and has over 10 years experience working in elite sport. He has worked as a strength and power consultant to elite athletes from a range of sports including, football, Brazilian jiu-jitsu and rugby, and for the London Marathon Endurance program.
He holds a PhD in neuromuscular physiology from Loughborough University, where he examined the muscle size and strength determinants of elite level sprinting and jumping performance. A former rugby player and olympic weightlifting national champion and record holder, Rob is currently a keen jui jitsu practitioner and holds a blue belt under professor Victor Estima.
DR. JULIE JOHNSTON
Whilst a researcher and lecturer in the field of sport psychology by trade, Julie also brings extensive applied experience to the Informed Performance team. During her career as an international swimmer, Julie held the Irish records in 50m and 100m freestyle and 50m butterfly and competed at multiple World, European and Commonwealth games.
Since retiring from swimming, she has completed a PhD in sport psychology at Loughborough University examining coach and parent roles in psychosocial development. Utilising a holistic approach, Julie’s work focuses on the social environment of sport and helps coaches, parents and teams understand how to effectively engage, motivate and develop happy and successful athletes. Julie has been providing coach and athlete mentoring with a performance skills focus for over 15 years across a wide variety of sports combining the knowledge she generated first-hand as an athlete with research and theory generated from her own peer-reviewed papers. This unique combination ensures a professional yet personal approach to the service Julie provides.

In addition, at the start of your programme you will discuss with the team key metrics and tracking statistics that can all be logged and compared in the app to assess progress.
